NASDAQ Appoints Robin Weisman as Director of Government Relations


NEW YORK, Sept. 18, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) today announced the appointment of Robin M. Weisman as Director of NASDAQ Government Relations. In this position, Ms. Weisman will represent the views and policies of NASDAQ to federal, state, and local policymakers. She will also participate in the development and execution of strategic initiatives that are driven by NASDAQ's mission to be the highest quality equity market in the world.

Prior to joining NASDAQ, Ms. Weisman served as Counsel in the Public Law and Policy practice of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld in Washington, D.C. At Akin Gump, Ms. Weisman represented a variety of corporate clients before Congress and various executive agencies on a wide range of issues including e-commerce, intellectual property, and oversight and investigations. Before Akin Gump, Ms. Weisman worked for Senator Howard Metzenbaum on the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources. Ms. Weisman also volunteered in the Office of White House Counsel under President Bill Clinton working on judicial nominations.

Ms. Weisman reports to J.J. Johnson, vice president of NASDAQ Government Relations. "Robin's extensive experience in government relations and her substantive expertise, particularly in technology policy, will make her a great asset for NASDAQ," said Johnson. "Robin will work with policy makers to continue to advocate policies in support of the capital markets, investors, competition, and innovation."

Ms. Weisman, a native New Yorker, graduated from Kenyon College and the American University Washington College of Law.
