Additech Appoints Thomas Howell Chief Technology Officer

New CTO Leading Improvement in Fuel Additive Delivery System

HOUSTON, Sept. 22, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Additech announced the appointment of Thomas Howell to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective immediately. Howell was previously vice president, Engineering.

Commenting on the CTO appointment, Ralph Koehrer, chief executive officer, said, "The appointment of Tom to the chief technology officer position fills an important and strategic leadership role in the company. The innovations to our fuel additive delivery system that Tom is working on will improve the consumer experience and performance of our equipment for our retail customers."

Additech's FAD 5 Fuel Additive Delivery System

The fifth generation of Additech Fuel Additive Delivery System, named FAD 5, was designed to be modular in assembly, service and configuration. The new design is made of small light weight components to allow quick and easy removal and replacement of any defective module without the disassembly of unrelated elements. No single component weighs over 30 pounds and the entire unit can be assembled on site in less than 30 minutes.

Previous generations were built and installed as a complete unit weighing several hundred pounds, requiring extra installation time and resources. In addition it lacked modularity making it more difficult to maintain.

The new design also incorporates many feedback sensors which continuously monitor the system. This information will be available to the Additech support staff via the internet, providing valuable system and performance status any time and anywhere via internet access.

"Operational status and events will be collected over time and used to build a knowledge database that will spot trends and early signs of wear out, making possible a comprehensive preventive maintenance program," explained Howell. "The FAD 5 design will also reduce manufacturing costs, decrease installation time and expense, increase configuration options, improve maintainability and decrease failure diagnostic time."

Additech currently holds eleven U.S. and foreign patents for its fuel additive delivery technology with six patents pending.

Prior to joining Additech, Howell was Manager of Test Engineering for Texas Micro/RadiSys Corporation where he was responsible for board level and system test of all computer products. Previously he held positions as Manager of Environmental and Reliability Engineering at Gateway 2000 where he was responsible for the creation of a systems evaluation department and the development of test standards and Manager of Design Evaluation at Zenith Data Systems where he was responsible for environmental and reliability evaluation of all Zenith Data Systems laptop and desktop personal computers. Howell graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1978 and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1988.
