Award-Winning Cheese Shop Steps Out Onto Bedford Avenue

WILLIAMSBURG, N.Y., Sept. 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Bedford Cheese Shop is moving its operation from inside the Williamsburg Mini-Mall to a historically significant corner storefront on Bedford Avenue. The noteworthy opening brings Brooklyn one step closer to overtaking Manhattan as the Country's Retail Cheese Capital of the World.

Featured on the Rachel Ray show, Good Morning America and in numerous articles in New York Magazine, The New York Times, and the Village Voice, the Bedford Cheese Shop is expanding its offerings to include even more of the finest farmstead cheeses from around the world.

Daphne Zepos, Affineur for Artisanal Cheese Caves and co-owner of Essex Cheese Company says, "It's a longtime coming, I'm so excited to see the new shop, it will fit beautifully in the atmosphere of Brooklyn--perfect timing."

No longer a "hidden destination," this popular Cheese Shop will open its new doors on Wednesday, October 4, in a refurbished former turn-of-the-century pharmacy. The new space features custom millwork to match its origins mixed with elegant curved-glass deli cases imported from Italy.

Founded by Jason Scherr and Jason Jeffries in 2003, the Bedford Cheese shop was an immediate hit in the neighborhood, providing outstanding service and selection despite its small, off-the-avenue location. Under the direction of head cheesemonger Charlotte Kamin, the cheese shop is continuing its commitment to cheese education, community spirit, and the idea of a small local shop offering individualized and friendly service.

The Bedford Cheese Shop is open weekdays from 11am until 9pm and weekends from 10am to 8pm and offers custom catering as well as gourmet cheese baskets through its website at www.bedfordcheeseshop.com.
