Taiwan High Court Affirms District Court Judgment in Favor of O2Micro Against Asus


GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman, Oct. 2, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- O2Micro(r) International Limited (Nasdaq:OIIM); (SEHK:0457), a leading supplier of innovative power management, and security components and systems, announced that the Taiwan High Court affirmed the Taipei District Court's prior judgment dismissing claims of AsusTek Computer Inc. ("Asus") against O2Micro that alleged violations of Taiwan's Fair Trade Law and defamation.

Asus sought a permanent injunction against O2Micro from interfering with Asus' use of non-O2Micro Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) driver controllers, other than Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. ("MPS") MP 1015 and MP 1011A.

O2Micro's patent infringement actions against MPS and Asus in the Taiwan Taipei District Court and the U.S. District Court remain pending. In addition, the preliminary injunction granted by Taiwan Shihlin District Court against Asus from using MP 1015 and MP 1011A remains in effect.
