EMS SATCOM Launches eNcompass TMS Services in Middle East and Europe

OTTAWA and ATHENS, Greece, Oct. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today at Defendory 2006 that its eNcompass PDT Packet Data Terminal transceiver (PDT) and airtime services are now available in the Middle East and are soon to be available in Europe.

"The increase in demand for real-time messaging capabilities has been steadily building, and we have been working to meet that demand," said Neil Mackay, senior vice president and general manager at EMS SATCOM. "Our recent work with GSI for the NATO force tracking system provided the impetus for us to speed up the launch of our offerings to the Middle East and Europe."

The company's PDT, which is currently used in applications from telemetry and transportation to public safety and force tracking systems, has experienced significant growth in its current coverage areas, including North and Central America, and northern South America. Adding the Middle East and Europe to the regions where the company's eNcompass TMS tracking and messaging services already work will extend EMS SATCOM's reach into a variety of new markets.

About eNcompass TMS Tracking and Messaging Services

EMS SATCOM offers the eNcompass TMS solution, a package consisting of its eNcompass PDT and commercial L-Band satellite airtime services. When integrated with third party applications, eNcompass TMS tracking and messaging services provide reliable real-time communications in remote areas where terrestrial systems may be down or not working -- ideal for force tracking systems, transport and public safety.

The eNcompass PDT is a transceiver that is light-weight, rugged, and easy to install. It requires virtually no maintenance. Where traditional communications rely on land-line and cellular infrastructure, the device's satellite-based system provides on-the-spot text messaging capabilities, and automatic vehicle location in even the most remote locations.
