INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The activation of a new Verizon Wireless cell site in Maxwell means more customers can use their wireless phones to make calls, send and receive email and text, picture and video messages, and download games and ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
The new cell site improves coverage in Maxwell; along State Road 9 between Interstate 70 and State Road 234; and along State Road 234 between State Road 9 and State Road 109.
"These upgrades mean more customers can call friends and family while on the go, check email while away from the office and share pictures instantly -- all on the nation's most reliable wireless network," said Greg Haller, president-Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless.
The new Maxwell cell site is part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase coverage and augment the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and across the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years -- $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. The company has invested more than $618 million over the past six years in its Indiana network.
