MATHCOUNTS is the nation's premier middle school math enrichment and competition program. Through a grassroots-based partnership involving volunteers, educators, and industry sponsors, more than 500,000 students nationwide participate annually at the school level through coaching and competitions.

"It becomes more obvious each day as I work with some of the most innovative companies in the high technology, aerospace and defense industries, that the country's long-term security and success in the global marketplace depends on our ability to create excitement about mathematics and math proficiency among middle school students," Myers said. "My experiences as a classroom volunteer have shown also that we must do everything we can to find new ways of engaging students. I appreciate the opportunity to expand my participation by contributing at a national level."

Myers, 43, is the father of three school-age sons. He is involved in the company's educational efforts as the executive sponsor of a local middle school and the executive sponsor and mentor of Adelante, a Northrop Grumman Hispanic networking group.
