U-Haul Salutes Our Veterans and Troops With the Premiere of 'Thank You for Serving'

NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- U-Haul Company today announced, for the second year in a row, their sponsorship of the "Thank You for Serving" video, which includes Broadway stars and the reigning Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, citizens from the great city of New York and all across the U.S., providing their tributes to America's military personnel serving overseas. Those "shout-outs" will be shown to those attending "Broadway to Baghdad," a star-studded special event and USO-style show on Tuesday, October 17, in New York City at the HBO Theater from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

"U-Haul was started by a Navy veteran and his wife in 1945," stated Layton Baker, vice president of U-Haul Dealer Operations Support and Vietnam combat veteran. "On behalf of U-Haul, our customers and employees, and millions of other freedom-loving Americans everywhere, we are extremely proud to be a part of the Broadway to Baghdad event."

"Vietnam Veterans of America's motto is 'Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another,'" stated VVA President John Rowan. "This event is one of many efforts VVA is involved with to honor the newest generation of American veterans and to reach out to them, with the benefit of our experience, to help them adjust to life back home."

Since 1988, U-Haul has been decorating its moving trucks to honor our troops who serve and all Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice -- Colorado, Air Force jet; Virginia, aircraft carrier; Alabama, U.S. Army helicopter; Pennsylvania, United States Marine Corps.; and September 11th, "United We Stand," which pays tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11.
