WASHINGTON, Oct. 17, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will host the 25th anniversary of MILCOM, the premier military communications conference.
MILCOM will be held Oct. 23-25 at the Wardman Park Marriott and Omni Shoreham Hotels in Washington, D.C.
Each year, MILCOM draws more than 3,000 attendees from government, industry, U.S. allies and top educational institutions to discuss communications issues facing U.S. and coalition military forces.
"The silver anniversary of MILCOM will offer attendees a collaborative setting to acquire valuable ideas and content that can be applied to their work environment," said retired Army Maj. Gen. Dave Bryan, vice president and deputy of defense transformation for Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector, and chairman of MILCOM 2006.
New to MILCOM this year is the Mission Possible demonstration theater. Participants will tour a real-world, in-theater challenge set in a command-and-control environment. Exhibiting companies will demonstrate network-enabled technologies specifically designed to respond to situations including: coalition collaboration, multi-source data fusion, data protection, situational awareness, multi-level security controls, and data mining and assessment.
Northrop Grumman will demonstrate tactical capabilities and solutions for battlefield deployment at booth 1201. Technologies will include a command center with secure wireless and satellite communications capabilities; a joint and coalition secure portal; the Defense Integration Human Resource System supporting in-theater personal asset visibility, replacements, casualty evacuation and associated pay issues; a secure tactical decision messaging capability; and an enterprise information assurance and computer network defense showcasing data and information protection.
Featured keynote speakers during the conference will include the Honorable Gordon England, deputy secretary of defense; the Honorable John Grimes, assistant secretary of defense for networks and information integration, and chief information officer, U.S. Department of Defense; Admiral Edmund Giambastiani Jr., vice chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; Navy Vice Adm. Nancy Brown, director, command, control, communications and computer systems (J-6), the Joint Staff; Navy Rear Adm. Victor See Jr., director of communications systems acquisition and operations directorate, National Reconnaissance Office; and Tom Brokaw, author and former anchor and managing editor for NBC Nightly News.
In the exhibit hall, Northrop Grumman will showcase its end-to-end expertise in military satellite communications for assured, protected communications at booth 119.

Segment - TSAT represents the next step toward
transitioning the Department of Defense wideband and
protected communications satellite architecture into a
single network comprised of multiple satellite, ground
and user segment components.
-- Advanced Extremely High Frequency (EHF) - The follow-on
to the Milstar system will provide global, high secure,
protected, survivable communications for warfighters in
all services within the DOD. Advanced EHF will deliver
10 times greater total capacity and channel data rates
six times higher than that of Milstar II communications
satellites.
There will be an Industry Day sponsored by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), on Monday, Oct. 23, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Wardman Park Marriott, salons 2 and 3. The program will be a question-and-answer session with DISA's senior leadership.
MILCOM is co-sponsored by the Armed Forces and Communications Electronics Association and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Communications Society.
