Northrop Grumman Marks New Facility Expansion in New Hartford, N.Y.


NEW HARTFORD, N.Y., Oct. 18, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) today announced the opening of a new facility in New Hartford, N.Y. that will serve to broaden the company's presence within the intelligence and homeland security communities.

The new 8,000-square-foot facility will support the research and development of advanced wireless communications and airborne networking technologies for the military and homeland security agencies. The company has added 12 new employees at this site and will continue to hire for additional engineering positions.

Highlighting the occasion were remarks and a groundbreaking ceremony by Dr. Donald W. Hanson, director, Information Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory; U.S. Rep. Sherwood L. Boehlert (R-New Hartford, N.Y); Wood Parker, president of Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT) sector's Intelligence Group; and John Olesak, vice president and executive director for Northrop Grumman IT's Intelligence Group.

"Through this expansion, Northrop Grumman will broaden its presence in this region to support future growth through new contract awards and jobs," said Parker. "This new facility represents our commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies to help keep our nation safe."

The new facility will support such technologies including Northrop Grumman's Joint Capability for Airborne Networking (JCAN) capability. JCAN is currently deployed onboard the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System aircraft in support of communications among U.S. Air Force and Army personnel deployed in the Middle East. In addition to providing communications support for our warfighters, JCAN also has potential homeland security applications, particularly for first responders.
