Solutia Offers 'Sneak Preview' of New Saflex Brand Focus; Announcements This Week to Feature New Products and New Investments

ST. LOUIS and DUSSELDORF, Germany, Oct. 24, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- At the Glasstec 2006 exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany, Solutia Inc. (OTCBB:SOLUQ), the world leader in the production and sale of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers, today announced its PVB interlayer business will now be known as "Saflex(r)", which is also the name of its flagship brand.

"The market recognizes Saflex as the world leader in PVB innovation, quality and reliability," said Luc De Temmerman, president of Solutia's Performance Products Division. "At Glasstec 2006, Saflex will make a series of announcements that demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with the best new products and the highest degree of market support anywhere in the world."

Solutia's Glasstec 2006 exhibit (Hall 11, Stand A60) will prominently feature the Saflex logo throughout. "Saflex is the world's leading brand of PVB interlayers," said Tim Feast, worldwide business director for Solutia's Saflex business. "Therefore, we are focusing on this single, powerful brand to represent the products, services and expertise that set us apart from our competitors. Saflex has a long and strong heritage within the glass industry, and through a renewed focus on Saflex we will leverage this tremendous brand equity to the benefit of our customers."

Solutia's Saflex business manufactures PVB interlayers at Ghent, Belgium; Puebla, Mexico; San Jose Dos Campos, Brazil; Springfield, Mass., USA; and Trenton, Mich., USA.
