Oracle and NASDAQ Co-Host Closing Bell Ceremony at This Year's Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco

Remote Ceremony Will Celebrate Oracle's 20th Listing Anniversary on the NASDAQ Stock Market

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 24, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Oracle (Nasdaq:ORCL) together with The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) will be hosting a NASDAQ Closing Bell ceremony to commemorate Oracle OpenWorld 2006 and Oracle's 20th Listing Anniversary as a public company. Oracle OpenWorld is an annual forum held in San Francisco, California for business and technology leaders. It is the world's largest event dedicated to helping enterprises understand the power of information.

The NASDAQ Closing Bell ceremony will occur from San Francisco at 12:30 p.m. P.T. (3:30 p.m. E.T.) in the Moscone Center on October 25th. The ceremony will be witnessed by the 41,000 OpenWorld attendees and will be fed to television networks throughout the U.S. and around the globe. It will be simultaneously showcased live on NASDAQ's Times Square Tower, bringing the OpenWorld event from San Francisco to New York. Immediately following the NASDAQ Closing Bell ceremony Larry Ellison will deliver his keynote address.

"Oracle OpenWorld presents a complete picture of all our solutions, products and technologies in a single venue," said Oracle Vice President Bob Wynne. "This combined technology and applications conference helps customers better understand how they combine to form an open, standards-based, integration-ready platform upon which a real-time business can be run."

"NASDAQ is delighted to participate in Oracle's ninth OpenWorld with a remote Closing Bell ceremony," commented Bob Greifeld, NASDAQ's President and CEO. "This forum has become a hallmark event for Oracle and industry decision makers who are at the forefront of technology, and it is an ideal forum to showcase NASDAQ technology and the power of our electronic market. NASDAQ is very proud that Oracle has been listed on our market since 1986 and we wish them continued growth and success," added Mr. Greifeld.

The NASDAQ Remote Closing Bell ceremony is a recreation of the daily Closing Bell that takes place in the NASDAQ studio. Both the Opening and Closing Bell ceremonies are broadcast live on NASDAQ's Times Square Tower in the heart of NY. NASDAQ will re-create the MarketSite Closing Bell ceremony at OpenWorld by displaying the electronic podium and traditionally signing into the market at the event. The Opening and Closing Bell events are symbolic ceremonies that represent the open and/or close of the NASDAQ trading day, which brings together investors and market participants from around the world to trade electronically.

NASDAQ by design is a decentralized electronic market that can be opened anywhere. On average, the NASDAQ processes approximately 20,000 stock market transactions per second and nearly 12 million trades per day. The market open and market close are the busiest times in the trading day, in which NASDAQ's systems handle transaction peaks in excess of 20,000 transactions per second.

Editors note: Broadcast outlets that are interested in obtaining the closing bell can access it via satellite. The entire NASDAQ Closing Bell ceremony live from Oracle OpenWorld can be made available to all local and regional broadcast outlets from 12:50 p.m. P.T. to 1:05 p.m. P.T. (3:50 p.m. E.T. to 4:05 p.m. E.T.) on uplink IA-6 C-band/transponder 17. The downlink frequency is 4040 Vertical; Audio 6.2-6.8. The feed can also be found on Waterfront fiber 1623.
