Private Equity Leaders Predict the Fundraising Path for 2007 At First-Ever Fundraising Summit

Leaders From The Carlyle Group, Stanford Management Company, Pension Consulting Alliance, Vector Capital and New Mexico State Investment Council Keynote at Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst Fundraising Summit, November 15 and 16, at the Four Seasons, San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 26, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- With private equity fundraising topping $172.87 billion and set to break all records in 2006, the key question for the industry is whether this rapid pace will continue into 2007. The leaders of the industry will be making their forecasts for next year at the first-ever Private Equity Analyst Fundraising Summit this Nov. 15 and 16 at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco.

The conference is a must-attend event for limited partners who are investing in the asset class and general partners who are raising a fund, as it provides an unparalleled opportunity for networking on the West Coast. In addition, keynote presentations will be made by leaders from The Carlyle Group, Stanford Management Company, Pension Consulting Alliance, Vector Capital and the New Mexico State Investment Council.

Among the keynote speakers is Lee Carson, managing director of The Carlyle Group. Responsible for investor relations and fundraising at one of the world's largest private equity firms with $42 billion under management, Mr. Carson will sit down with Dave Barry, managing editor with Dow Jones Financial Information Services, to discuss the firm's multi-level and global approach to raising and deploying capital and information.

As one of the pioneers of private equity investment, Stanford Management Company helped get many premier West Coast venture firms off the ground. Conference attendees will get a chance to hear what newly appointed President and CEO John Powers thinks of the current state of alternative assets and private equity in an on-stage keynote interview with Private Equity Analyst Special Writer Laura Kreutzer.

The limited partner spotlight will focus on the New Mexico State Investment Council, which commits $300 million on average per year to private equity. Greg Kulka, director of private equity, will discuss the state's alternative investment program and goals and its potential for investing abroad and in new funds.

Attendees will also find out how the California Public Employees' Retirement System's (CalPERS) Alternative Investment Management program is changing under the guidelines recommended by Pension Consulting Alliance in a presentation by PCA Managing Director Michael Moy. Hear what this strategic review means for managers who are getting capital from CalPERS and for those who would like to tap this pension fund.

The differentiated strategy of technology-focused buyouts pursued by Vector Capital will be discussed in a special keynote session featuring Alex Slusky, founder and managing partner of the firm.

This year's conference is sponsored by WilmerHale and Merrill Corporation. For more information or to register, contact (866) 291-1800 or visit: http://fundraisingsummit.dowjones.com/
