iMemories' 'Home Movie Film Festival' Provides New Twist on Emerging Market of Online Video Communities

Three-Day Event Nov 10-12 Screens Old Home Movie Footage for Private Family-Sharing, Not Public Use

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 26, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- As part of the hot emerging markets of video sharing and consumer generated content (CGC), iMemories will host a 3-day "Home Movie Film Festival" at its Scottsdale-based studio November 10, 11 and 12. In contrast to the content in the popular Google/YouTube and similar communities, however, which primarily feature raw online footage for a mass audience, iMemories focuses on helping families preserve, enjoy and share the images they've captured over the years for private family viewing and special occasions.

The festival will allow Arizona residents and visitors to bring in their dusty old canisters and for a few minutes, find out exactly what is on those old film reels. iMemories staff will be on hand to help clean and inspect the reels, answer questions about home movie preservation, and assist any customers who wish to use the company's services to digitally master their footage to DVD or online video.

"Social Networking" Phenomenon

Both Google/YouTube and iMemories represent a growing phenomenon as advances in the Internet, video technology, storage, and personal use converge. "On that rapidly deteriorating media of 8mm and 16mm film are families' most priceless moments," said Mark Rukavina, founder and CEO of iMemories. "Customers want to take advantage of new DVD media and the power of online sharing over the Web, and iMemories is a private, secure way in which to do that. It's all part of the new market of social networking, but unlike Google/YouTube, our customers are using video and the Internet to share timeless, often sentimental memories."
