The Greenwich Workshop and Prints.Com Present Award Winning Master Watercolorist Steve Hanks

WAUWATOSA,Wisc., Nov. 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Greenwich Workshop proudly presents watercolor genius Steve Hanks at Prints.Com Gallery in the Mayfair Mall, Wauwatosa, WI, on Saturday, November 18 from 1-5 p.m.

Painting what he calls "introspective solitude," Steve Hanks beautifully captures moments in time as people contemplate their life's direction. A genius at capturing the human physique, Hanks' works celebrate life, love and light. He often paints a figure with face obscured and captures a fleeting slice of light as it falls across the body. "My faces are often partially hidden because I don't want the faces to have to carry all the emotion. As a figurative artist, I want the whole body to tell the story," explains Hanks.

Hanks is a master at conveying feeling and place in his work. As one of the most sought-after and respected artists in North America today, his techniques are widely studied by students and seasoned artists alike. A phenomenal watercolorist, Hanks paints images with layers of detail and embedded meaning in them. What on the surface may seem an ordinary scene, on deeper inspection reveals an eloquent retelling of a personal experience.

"You have to be responsible for what you put out into this world. I don't paint negativity," says Hanks. That's one reason Steve Hanks' paintings are more than charming images of women and children. They speak to the vulnerability that we all feel from time to time. "My work is about the paths we choose and the passage of time."
