Greater Selection of Innovative CDMA2000 Devices Now Available

More Than 1460 CDMA2000 Devices Have Been Introduced to the Market


COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) announced today that the number and types of 3G CDMA2000(r) devices on the market has increased dramatically in the past three years. Due to CDMA2000's economic maturity, technical performance and versatility, the technology has been successful in addressing and fulfilling the needs of many different market segments.

Since October 2000, the CDMA industry has introduced 1461 CDMA2000 3G devices (1,110 CDMA2000 1X and 351 CDMA2000 1xEV-DO broadband devices). Included in this number are 13 CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) advanced mobile broadband devices, 64 CDMA450 emerging market devices, and 20 WorldMode(tm) global roaming phones.

The industry has pioneered and commercialized an extensive portfolio of innovative 3G devices. At least 85 vendors are selling a broad variety of CDMA2000 devices, including mobile handsets, personal digital assistants, smartphones, fixed wireless phones, fixed wireless terminals, camera phones, camcorder phones, broadcast phones, personal navigators, PC cards, USB thumb drives, embedded PC notebook modules, desktop modems, tablet PCs, wireless Internet appliances, telemetry units, Wi-Fi routers, payphones, kids' phones, gaming consoles, car phones, ultra-rugged handhelds, ultra-slim card phones, disposable phones, point of sale machines, and secure wireless phones. This expansive selection of CDMA2000 devices is enabling the technology to affordably meet the diversified needs of nearly 300 million people worldwide.
