SimpleTech Announces the MACH1 Family of High Performance Industrial Grade Flash Products

An Entirely New Generation of High Reliability, High Capacity and High Performance Flash Solutions

MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 17, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SimpleTech, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC) today announced the MACH1 family of advanced Flash products, consisting of a broad set of form factors including Compact Flash (CF), PC Card, 1.8" Flash Drive, 2.5" Flash Drive, Flash Disk Module and Single Chip Drive. At the heart of this new product line is a Flash controller and tightly coupled firmware entirely designed by SimpleTech specifically for the high reliability OEM customer. SimpleTech's patented IC Tower(r) Stacking Technology enables exceptional capacity expansion to 16GB in small form factors. SimpleTech is showcasing the entire product family at the Electronica 2006 conference, Nov 14-17, 2006 at New Munich Trade Fair Center in Munich (Hall 6, Stand 754).

Each MACH1 product uses SimpleTech's most recently developed proprietary Flash controller IC, enabling a powerful combination of advanced features and exceptional reliability. The advanced features address a wide range of demands from OEMs:

-- Life Cycle Management. A sophisticated algorithm provides
the customer visibility into the vitality of any SimpleTech
Flash product based on the unique application demands of
the system into which that Flash product was designed. This
is a very simple utility for the customer to use, and it
provides the customer a vital tool to determine the remaining
usable life of the Flash product.

-- RapidPurge(tm) advanced data protection. Extending the suite
of available data protection options, the MACH1 product line
provides the industry's fastest and most reliable data purge
      feature.

-- Power-down protection. Since so much vital system data is
stored on the Flash products, SimpleTech incorporates a
real-time utility to maintain data integrity through
ungraceful power interruptions that could plague the OEM
      system.

To achieve the highest levels of reliability and endurance, SimpleTech developed world class Flash management algorithms. The new algorithm implements an advanced error correction scheme with 5-Byte detection and 4-Byte correction. The MACH1 products also incorporate a proprietary wear-leveling scheme so that the ultimate reliability exceeds 2,000,000 Write/Erase Cycles.

"As the use of Flash-based storage proliferates within high performance OEM systems, the demand for expanded functionality and breadth of form factors increases," said Patrick Wilkison, vice president of marketing and business development at SimpleTech. "The MACH1 Family of high performance Flash products provides our customers infinite flexibility in how they deploy solid state storage."
