TASER Foundation and Poker Champion Phil Hellmuth Raise Money for the Families of Fallen Police Officers


SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 8, 2006 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Tomorrow, hundreds will gather at the Fort McDowell Indian Casino to help raise money for the families of fallen police officers. The 2nd annual "Playing the Hand" for fallen officers poker charity tournament is hosted by the TASER Foundation and will feature 10-time World Series of Poker champion Phil Hellmuth.

"We are thrilled that Phil Hellmuth is helping raise money for the TASER Foundation. This tournament will not only honor the sacrifice of law enforcement officers who have lost their lives line of duty, but it will result in a lot of good for families who have suffered tremendous loss," said Gerry Anderson, executive director of the TASER Foundation.

The TASER Foundation expects to raise more than $100,000 at the "Playing the Hand" poker tournament. Last year the event raised more than $30,000. Grand prize for participants is a $10,000 seat at the 2007 World Series of Poker.

Seats are still available for those who want to play poker for a great cause. A $200 tax deductible donation gives you a seat the "general" tournament and a $1,000 tax deductible donation for the "high roller" tournament gives you a chance to go "all in" against Phil Hellmuth. Winners of the general and high roller tournaments will battle it out for the grand prize.



 WHEN:     Saturday, December 9th
           General tournament ($200 Buy In) starts at 3:00 p.m.
           High Roller tournament ($1,000 Buy In) starts at 7:30 p.m.
