COSTA MESA, Calif., Dec. 11, 2006 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- RSM EquiCo Capital Markets LLC, a global investment bank, has named Jerome G. Merchant managing director.
Merchant, who is based in the firm's Costa Mesa corporate headquarters, will provide merger and acquisition and capital raising advisory services to the firm's investment banking clients.

Jerome Merchant has more than 20 years of experience in investment banking and capital raising.
Prior to joining RSM EquiCo Capital Markets, Merchant held senior level positions with MetLife Investors and Citigroup, where he advised an array of prominent financial institutions including Citibank, Smith Barney, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank. An expert in executive and strategic planning, he has counseled both public and private companies, as well as institutional and high-net worth investors. He also has overseen more than $2 billion in capital raising and investments.
Merchant previously was a senior vice president for Cal Fed Investments and before that served the UB Group, a multibillion-dollar company with a major presence in the international beer and spirits industries, as director of strategic planning in the Chairman's Office. He continues to serve on the board of the company's U.S. affiliate and its European subsidiary. Before that, Merchant directed the West Coast capital raising operations for a boutique equity group, making equity-oriented management buyouts and strategic acquisitions.
Jerome Merchant received a bachelor's degree in managerial economics-finance from the University of California, Davis. He holds NASD Series 7 and 63 securities licenses. He is fluent in French.
