This award is presented annually by the accredited standards development organization to recognize technical contributions, active participation and dedication to INCITS' program of work.

"Bob Nixon's long-standing involvement with the committee and numerous contributions to the ongoing development of Fibre Channel technology has been instrumental in the development of quality and timely standards," said Patrick Morris, Executive Director of INCITS. "This award acknowledges his excellent work and recognizes his leadership and expertise within the committee."

The International Committee for Information Technology Standards is the leading forum for the creation and maintenance of formal IT standards. The committee's mission is to promote the use of information and communication technology through standardization in a way that balances the interests of all stakeholders and increases the global competitiveness of member organizations.

Bob Nixon served as secretary for the Technical Committee T11.3, a committee within INCITS responsible for producing interface standards for high-performance and mass storage applications. T11's program of work includes two current standards development projects, known as Fibre Channel (FC) and Storage Network Management (SM). The program also consists of three complete projects, known as High Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI), Intelligent Peripheral Interface (IPI) and Single-Byte Common Code Sets Connection (SBCON).

"This award validates the importance of creating storage industry standards," said Nixon. "At Emulex, we've seen INCITS' standards provide our customers with more flexibility in their storage environments and we believe this flexibility will continue to accelerate the adoption of networked storage."
