WCI Communities Appoints Charles E. Cobb Jr. Vice Chairman


BONITA SPRINGS, Fla., Dec. 14, 2006 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- WCI Communities, Inc. (NYSE:WCI), a leading builder of traditional and tower residences in highly amenitized lifestyle communities, announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Charles E. Cobb Jr. to the newly created position of Vice Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Cobb is the CEO and Senior Managing Director of Cobb Partners, Ltd., an investment firm with interests in real estate, international finance, resorts and tourism-related businesses. Mr. Cobb has overseen the development of many large-scale resort communities in the United States and abroad as the Chairman and/or CEO of several community development companies, including Arvida Corporation and Disney Development Company. In addition to WCI, Cobb previously served on the Board of Directors of several real estate companies including the Walt Disney Company, the Penn Central Corporation, and LNR Property Corporation. He also served as Under Secretary of Commerce for President Reagan and as Ambassador for President George H. W. Bush.

WCI's current Chairman of the Board, Don E. Ackerman, has indicated that while he will stand for re-election to the Board at the next annual meeting, he does not intend to stand for re-election as Chairman of the Board. Ackerman stated, "This appointment provides for an orderly transition of the Board leadership to an individual with outstanding credentials in the real estate industry in light of my desire to phase down my day-to-day involvement in all my business activities over the next couple of years. I am pleased to continue my active participation on the WCI Board of Directors with the objective of helping to increase shareholder value."
