NASDAQ to Close On Tuesday, January 2, 2007 in Remembrance of President Gerald Ford


NEW YORK, Dec. 28, 2006 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- In memory of President Gerald Ford and in accordance with our country's national day of mourning The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. ("NASDAQ(r)") (Nasdaq:NDAQ) will be closed on Tuesday, January 2, 2007.

NASDAQ's President and CEO, Bob Greifeld, commented, "President Ford was a historic American President and a notable businessman, who served on the NASD Board from 1999-2000, during a critical time for The Nasdaq Stock Market. His leadership and invaluable service during his time on the NASD board contributed to what the NASDAQ is today, an independent public entity. President Ford's efforts will be forever remembered."

NASDAQ extends its thoughts and prayers to the Ford family. Normal trading and market ceremonies will resume on January 3, 2007. NASDAQ will broadcast memorial messages on the NASDAQ Tower throughout the day.
