Vacon wins a major contract in the mining industry in Greece


The variable speed AC drives manufacturer Vacon has signed one of the company's
most significant contracts with its Greek partner Metka - Metal Constructions of
Greece S.A. With this contract Vacon will extend its market area in Greece and
further strengthen its position in the mining industry.

Vacon AC drives will be delivered to lignite mines at Kardia and Mavropigi in
Western Macedonia, owned by the Public Power Corporation of Greece (PPC). Metka
won the contract for the procurement, installation and testing of a total of 61
conveyor belt stations, which will be controlled by Vacon AC drives.

"The mining industry is an important area for us, and we are very pleased that
such a major and first-rate system integrator as Metka has chosen us as their
drives supplier. This is one of our most significant single contracts. We believe
our cooperation will be strong and very rewarding. In future, we will further
increase our investments and support in the mining segment," says Mr Heikki

The Public  Power  Corporation  is  a  state-owned  energy  company  which  serves
electricity and power for all of Greece.
