Morris, Manning & Martin Attorney John Yates to Speak At 2007 Information Technology Law Institute

ATLANTA, Jan. 3, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Technology attorney John Yates will speak at 2007 Information Technology Law Institute in New York March 8 and 9. The Institute is the most prominent technology law seminar for lawyers in the country, and Yates has been a featured speaker for over a decade. It is hosted by the Practising Law Institute (PLI,) a leading provider of continuing legal education (CLE) credit.

The theme of the program is Systems Security, Record Retention and the Rise of Information Life Cycle Management. Yates will speak about "Due Diligence of Intellectual Property in Mergers and Acquisitions."

"When one company merges with or acquires another, they inherit different policies and procedures for managing sensitive and critical data," Yates says. "As attorneys guide their clients through these transactions, they should be aware that managing, and then integrating the data of the acquired company raises important intellectual property issues."

The conference agenda also examines issues including spyware and pretexting; corporate document management and the need to change corporate culture; developing information security programs; data migration and regulatory compliance; trends in trade secret law; new e-discovery rules; Sarbanes Oxley and corporate governance compliance issues for data retention; and recent litigation.

A live online Webcast will also be offered for those who can't attend. Audio CDs and video DVDs will be available for sale in April. To register, visit www.pli.edu.
