10/01/2007 Innovative Systems - Rational Building with Wood At the Munich trade fair Bau 2007 Finnforest appears under the theme "Finnforest in Germany - innovative and intelligent building with wood". Apart from well-known, high-quality Finnforest products - such as Kerto, Finnjoist, plywood, LenoTec and mouldings - designers and building professionals will be offered three product innovations for new and rational building with wood. FinnWall is a new, efficient construction system for light partition walls. The advantages of this pre-fabricated timber frame system will be demonstrated to fair visitors in a live presentation. FinnWall is suitable both for building professionals and DIY builders. It will be launched at the fair. The new wall system, Kerto in Leno, has been developed for advanced building with wood - from single family houses to multi-storey residential buildings. It is a part of the "Leno Solid Wood Construction System“. Large wall-high elements are prefabricated to exact measurements, delivered on time and, if requested, already provided with cut-outs for a building's utility and technical installations. Thanks to its special structure, Kerto in Leno wall elements provide advantages, such as the high degree of solidity, individual pre-manufacture and optimum values for air tightness. In addition, the wall elements remain just as open to diffusion as the Leno component parts. Easy-to-use connections are durable and make it simple to create high-quality joints between building elements. The short assembly time of prefabricated elements offers a major competitive advantage for those building with wood. The new FinnRoof roof elements offer great advantages not only for building with wood but also for traditional masonry buildings. The large-size elements are industrially prefabricated and delivered to the building site as elements already equipped with insulation and battens. Instead of solid wood rafters, FinnJoist I-joists are used and this makes it possible to have joist heights (and insulation thickness) of up to 36 cm, which is optimal to meet the energy standards of KfW 60, KfW 40 and “Passivhaus” sustainable building standard. In addition, new opportunities in structural design are explained in detail at the Finnforest stand. Finnforest products and new building solutions are exhibited at Bau 2007 in the New Munich Trade Fair Center in Hall B5, Stand 320, on 15-20 January 2007. Bau is a European key trade fair for building materials, building systems and building renovation. There are 2,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries presenting their products and services to more than 190 000 visitors from more than 100 countries. The fair is arranged every two years.
