Merci, Beaucoup -- Urban Bistro to Host Annual Winter Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin

DALLAS, Jan. 11, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Sommeliers and Burgundy aficionados will converge at Urban Bistro's Park Cities location on Inwood and Lover's at noon Jan. 27 -- and will experience a four course meal tailored to fit with the celebrated wines chosen by members of the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.

The French wine fraternity has a long standing reputation as an exclusive club of Burgundy wine enthusiasts. Originally founded in the early eighteenth century as the Ordre de la Boisson (Order of the Drink), the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (translatable as Brotherhood of Knights of Wine-Tasting Cups) was resurrected under its current name in 1934.

Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin maintains chapters worldwide. The local chapter is called the Sous Commanderie de Dallas-Fort Worth, and its Grand Senechal is Robert Hull. The organization's activates are scheduled around elegant dinners and culinary events, sampling Burgundy wines throughout.

The choice of Urban Bistro as the locale for such a prestigious and important event for his group was obvious, Hull said. When asked why the group chose Urban Bistro, he answered simply, "Avner." It also helps that tradition is also there -- the group has held its winter luncheon in the Urban Bistro building since its inception -- when it housed the Riviera.

Chef Avner Samuel's eccentric attention to detail and courage to push the envelope has won him numerous awards, most recently "Best Chef of Dallas" -- D Magazine, and Urban Bistro as "Top New Restaurant of 2006." For many who appreciate French and Mediterranean cuisine, Avner Samuel represents absolute perfection when it comes to a dining experience.

Mostly, however Urban Bistro offers its patrons a little piece of home -- of Avner's home that is, complete with dishes like My Mother's Salad, a seared snapper for two, and delicate panna cotta with a basil and mint syrup for dessert.
