Sectra: Sectra wins strategic contract in the Netherlands...

Sectra wins strategic contract in the Netherlands worth EUR 2.4 million Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) has signed a contract with the IT and medical-technology company Sectra. The order value, excluding hardware options, amounts to EUR 2.4 million (including VAT). The contract comprises Sectra's digital solutions for radiology: radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communications system (PACS). LUMC will be the first major hospital to install Sectra's fully integrated RIS/PACS solution in the Netherlands. "Sectra PACS is already installed in a large number of sites in the Netherlands and we are now entering the Dutch market with our RIS solution. LUMC represents a strategic win for us since we gain an important reference for our combined RIS/PACS solution enabling us to show existing users the benefit of a fully integrated system," says Wim Schuur, Vice President Sales of Sectra's medical operations in the Benelux region. LUMC performs approximately 175,000 radiology examinations per year. With Sectra's solution LUMC will be able to handle radiology images and related information throughout the hospital more efficiently than today. The radiology department is scheduled to take the system into clinical operation in July and the rest of the hospital will start using the system in October 2007. "Among many vendors, we chose Sectra because we believe they are best fit to provide an integrated IT solution with related service and support that meet our needs. A very important factor was also the way Sectra manages the data explosion that currently takes place. Fast retrieval and display of the really large datasets that modern radiology equipment generates are of great essence," says Prof Dr. J.L. Bloem, head of radiology department at LUMC.
