John Yates to Chair Metro Atlanta Chamber's Technology Marketing Council

Morris, Manning & Martin Attorney Also Reappointed to Chamber's Executive Committee


ATLANTA, Jan. 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- John Yates, Chair of the Technology Group at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, has assumed a new committee leadership post with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber has chosen the technology lawyer to chair the newly-formed Technology Marketing Council (TMC), which is charged with promoting metro Atlanta's thriving technology community. The vice-chairs of the council include Wayne Clough, president of the Georgia Institute of Technology, and Chris Klaus, founder of Internet Security System, currently President of Kaneva.

"The Council provides an excellent resource for making contact with the venture and investment communities," Yates says. "I look forward to working with its members, expected to include some of the top names in the area's tech community, as we set goals for the coming year."

In addition, Yates has been nominated to serve a second term on the Executive Committee of the Chamber's Board of Directors. The committee's goals for the coming year include business recruitment, developing the tech industry, logistics and international trade, and quality of life initiatives in transportation, education and water. He also has chaired the Chamber's Political Action Committee (MACPAC), and co-chaired the Chamber's Business Recruitment Subcommittee.

His Chamber involvement is just one of his many community activities. He has served as President of the Technology Executives Roundtable (TER), chaired the 2003 Georgia Technology Celebration, and twice chaired United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta's Tech Initiative. He also serves on several boards, including the Board of the Technology Association of Georgia, the Paideia School and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Community Board.
