A Darkly Intriguing Psychological Thriller -- Author Ilse Nusbaum Spins a Dark Web of Intrigue, Myth and Romance

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- On the shores of a small lake north of Detroit, and in a grove nearby, gods and demons compete for human souls. Free will and fate, good and evil, sacred oaths and prophecies determine the outcome. Here the god of evil wins, but not forever. Blindspot, a psychological thriller by author Ilse Nusbaum, portrays one woman's quest to protect the next generation from that evil.

Ophelia is the novel's narrator and the fourth of five fragmented beings, multiple personalities called alters. Her father, Max Mahler, is a brilliant and handsome physician but his charming facade conceals a twisted soul. A web of lies entangles his family's relationships and beliefs. Only his disciples know that he is a pedophile and murderer, the prophet of a satanic cult. His daughter is his primary victim. Dissociation is her mind's defense against terror and pain. Ophelia's journey through life requires her to protect the next generation, bring justice to her father's victims and find unity within herself.

Despite dark undertones that identify Blindspot as a psychological thriller, it is also a romance. The hero is noble and the heroine is beautiful, gifted and brave. A fascinating factor of this story is Ophelia's multiple personality disorder which allows her to cope with her father's abuses. She is a courageous woman, far different from the stereotypical victim. She is the princess in the tower who saves herself. Though the novel's main theme is the age-old battle between good and evil, it also reveals the meaning of identity in relation to memory as well as the perils of blind faith.
