FINNAIR OYJ STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 23 JANUARY 2007 AT 09:30 CEO JUKKA HIENONEN SHED LIGHT ON FINNAIR 'S RESULT BACKGROUND AND OUTLOOK Finnair President and CEO Jukka Hienonen spoke on the airline industry outlook and shed light on the background of Finnair's result development in the previous year at a transport industry forum in Kirkkonummi, Finland today. "Finnair's fuel bill for last year was almost one hundred million euros higher than the previous year, but recent decreases in the price of oil have had a positive effect on cost development in the transportation sector," Jukka Hienonen stated. "Finnair's operational result (adjusted EBIT) for last year will, in accordance with previously given guidance, be profitable. Due to costs from structural arrangements and changes in fuel derivative market value, Finnair's EBIT will be in the red." Most of the over 15 million euro one-off costs filed in the second quarter of last year are from Finnair Technical Division, which had a hard year as a whole. "The year 2006 will be an interim year in Finnair's result development. The structural changes begun last year give justified reason to believe that the result for 2007 will be significantly better than in the previous year," Hienonen said. Jukka Hienonen described how Finnair is boosting its long-haul network and operating all its Asian flights direct starting this spring. At the same time, the majority of the routes will begin to be operated on a daily basis. Thanks to the renewal, a new destination, Mumbai, India will be launched. Finnair's Asian traffic capacity will increase by approximately 30 per cent this year. "From the point of view of high technology industry logistics, increasing the number of frequencies is positive. The additions in Indian traffic especially improve prospects for cargo," Hienonen explained. Finnair Plc Communications 23.1.2007
