Convergence is Commonplace in the Chamber Industry With Village Profile's New View eBook

ELGIN, Ill., Jan. 25, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- While it has been debated whether eBooks and online "libraries" will ever replace paper magazines or hardcover books, Village Profile's latest Traditional-to-Digital(tm) publishing innovation gives readers on both sides of the question a new view on the subject, all at no cost to your Chamber.

The Chamber industry publisher has debuted its NewView eBook(tm), another component of Village Profile's Traditional-to-Digital(tm) publishing program online at its Community Profile Network (CPN), www.villageprofile.com

The NewView eBook(tm) gives CPN visitors full-page views of Village Profile's printed community guides and Chamber membership directories with an interactive, flash-based feature that simulates turning pages in a magazine, on screen. Viewing the NewView eBook(tm) requires no special user programs or software.

Seven communities recently posted on the CPN feature the NewView eBook(tm) (clicking on the community name will take you to its CPN website): Anaheim, CA http://www.vp-mobile.com/flash/california/anaheim/ ; Oak Park, IL http://www.vp-mobile.com/flash/illinois/oakpark/ ; Naperville, IL http://www.vp-mobile.com/flash/illinois/naperville/ ; Pueblo West, CO http://www.vp-mobile.com/flash/colorado/pueblowest/ ; Clovis, CA http://www.vp-mobile.com/flash/california/clovis/ ; Ottawa, KA http://www.vp-mobile.com/flash/kansas/ottawa/ ; and Antigo, WI http://www.vp-mobile.com/flash/wisconsin/antigo/.

Dan Nugara, president and publisher of the Elgin, an Illinois-based company, said that the reception in the Chamber community has been tremendous. "It's a unique, interactive way of presenting the communities' and Chambers' editorial information, and a great benefit for advertisers -- Chamber members -- who participate in the publication."

"The communication technology brought to us through 'Traditional-to-Digital(tm)' publishing has been a huge leap forward for our Chamber," said Keloryn Putnam, Executive Director of the Orland Park (IL) Chamber of Commerce. "It lets us offer extraordinary benefits to our members."

Laurie Stone, President of the Schaumburg Business Association and who has managed a number of larger Chicago-area Chambers of Commerce for more than 28 years, said, "The Chamber industry, as has the rest of the business world, undergone incredible technological advancement in the last two decades. Village Profile's Convergence Publishing Program has helped us maintain a technological and competitive edge."

All community guides and membership directories started since September 2006 will be converted into a community website and feature the NewView eBooks(tm). Village Profile publishes about 25 magazines, directories and maps every month.

Village Profile's "Traditional-to-Digital(tm)" 2006 campaign has been successful in building awareness of the many ways its publications can be accessed and referenced via the Chamber publishing industry's only Convergence Publishing Program(tm).

Once the traditional four-color, glossy printed magazines and maps are printed, they are converted into the digital components of the Traditional-to-Digital Publishing Program(tm) which can be accessed through Blackberrys, smartphones, web-enabled cell phones and other wireless devices that the majority of businesspeople in the U.S. use today.

In addition to the traditional print publication, digital components of Village Profile's Traditional-to-Digital Publishing Program(tm) include

VillageProfile.com, Inc. continues to be the catalyst for bringing Chambers of Commerce to the forefront of business communications. Ever since it launched Chambers onto the Internet in 1995 -- just four short years after the Internet was "born" in 1991 -- Village Profile has been introducing innovations to the Chamber publishing industry.

As Richard "Mick" Fleming, Immediate Past Chair of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) put it, "One of (Village Profile's) keys to success has been the early embrace of technology, including the Internet (when most of us had barely heard of it) and now the converging technologies of cell phones, membership database software, the Internet, and other IT developments."

VillageProfile.com, Inc. was founded in 1988 and is presently headquartered in Elgin, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. The family-owned company is managed by President and Publisher Dan Nugara. Village Profile employs a staff of nearly 70 graphic arts, cartography, production and administrative personnel, and a nationwide sales force of 80+.
