Dow Jones Appoints Jorge L. Figueredo Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Accomplished HR and Business Executive to Help Lead Transformation


NEW YORK, Jan. 29, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Dow Jones announced today the appointment of Jorge L. Figueredo as senior vice president, human resources.

An accomplished executive with significant experience in business operations and strategic HR world-wide, Mr. Figueredo will lead all aspects of the company's HR function. He will focus in particular on talent management, including recruitment, retention, training, development and diversity, to help ensure that the company attracts, develops, motivates and retains top and diverse talent. His responsibilities will also include employee engagement, labor relations, compensation, benefits, compliance, and HR systems. He will report to Rich Zannino, chief executive officer.

Mr. Figueredo, 46 years old, spent 22 years at Liz Claiborne Inc., including seven years leading its HR team. There he led the creation of a strategic HR function focused on developing and executing on human resources strategies linked to achieving business and performance objectives, supporting organizational change and partnering with business units to improve talent and results.

More recently, since 2001, Mr. Figueredo was president, international, at Liz Claiborne where he managed businesses around the world and led important acquisition and expansion efforts.

Mr. Figueredo was named HR "Executive of the Year" by Human Resource Executive magazine in 1999 and was listed among the 100 "Most Influential Hispanics" by Hispanic Business magazine in 2004. He's a graduate of Fairfield University and holds an MBA from New York University.

Mr. Figueredo will take up his new position on Feb. 26.

He succeeds James A. Scaduto who has led the department since 1995 when he was appointed vice president for Human Resources. Mr. Scaduto was responsible for improving the department's processes, overhauling the company's benefits and compensations plans and successfully and compassionately guiding the company and its employees through many changes in its workforce over the past few years.
