OFFICIAL PERMITS FOR SAMPO BANK TRANSACTION RECEIVED

Sampo plc agreed on 9 November 2006 to sell all Sampo Bank plc's shares to Danske
Bank A/S for a cash consideration of 4,050 million euros. The necessary official
permits, upon which the transaction is conditional, have been obtained today.
