HiQ signs contract with leading manufacturer of equipment for the printing industry HiQ has signed a contract with the Swedish subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg), a company that supplies bespoke printing process automation solutions to the print media industry all around the world. Under the contract HiQ will provide Heidelberg with services relating to the development of software for control systems for printing works' packing halls. The contract is for a five-year period is worth around SEK 30 million to HiQ. HiQ has over 15 years' experience of working with various players in the daily press. Most of the processes involved in a modern newspaper printing facility are automated, with high requirements of system reliability. For many years, for example, HiQ has worked on developing control systems for the packing halls of various newspaper printing works - i.e. the systems that ensure that the newspapers are handled, packaged and loaded for transport to retailers and distributors. "Under the contract with Heidelberg HiQ will supply systems development services over five years and thus help our client to ensure that their solutions can be fully integrated into the entire process of a newspaper printing works, including packaging and loading of the newspapers. HiQ has unique expertise in the development of control systems for the newspaper industry and I see the contract with Heidelberg as proof of this," says Magnus Gudéhn, Managing Director of HiQ Cats. Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG is one of world's biggest suppliers to the printing industry. The company offers products such as printing presses, image processing equipment and finishing equipment.
