OUTOKUMPU OYJ STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE FEBRUARY 1, 2007 AT 2.15 PM OUTOKUMPU INVESTING EUR 90 MILLION IN REPLACEMENT OF THE ANNEALING AND PICKLING LINE 2 IN TORNIO Replacing one of the five Annealing and Pickling Lines in Outokumpu´s Tornio Works will give an additional capacity of 75 000 tons of cold rolled products. It will also improve the capability to produce brighter ferritic steel grades and enhance Outokumpus flexibility to meet customer needs. Replacement of the Annealing and Pickling Line 2 (AP2-line) is the second step of Outokumpu´s way to the ferritic market. It will complement the earlier announced EUR 13 million investment in Batch Annealing Furnaces in the Hot Rolling Mill of Tornio Works, which will start ferritics production in the first quarter of 2007 as planned. The new AP-line will have an annual capacity of 300 000 tons and it will be capable of producing austenitic and ferritic products with a minimum set-up time. The new line will replace the existing one in the same building. The line was first built in 1982. The total value of the investment is EUR 90 million, spread over three years. After the investment is fully ramped-up, the nominal capacity of the Cold Rolling Plant in Outokumpus Tornio Works will be over 1 250 000 tons. The shut down of the old AP2-line will take place during the fourth quarter of 2008 and production in the new line will start by the end of 2008, with full capacity available by the end of 2009. The shutdown and ramp-up will not have significant impact on the total capacity of the Cold Rolling Plant in 2008 or 2009.
