Latvijas kuģniecība 09.02.2007 LASCO’S FIFTH TANKER NEWBUILD NAMED UGALE LAUNCHED Hereby JSC Latvijas kuģniecība (Latvian Shipping Company – LASCO) informs, that today, 10 February 2007, a festive launching and naming ceremony of m/v Ugale (the fifth of ten tanker newbuilds ordered by LASCO) took place at 3.Maj shipyard, Croatia. The honour of being the ship’s Godmother was entrusted to Ms. Lilita Seimuškāne, Director of Ventspils Development Agency and lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management, the University of Latvia. Immediately upon the launching of m/v Ugale, the keel will be laid for the next (sixth) Latvijas kuģniecība newbuilding m/v Usma. At present JSC Latvijas kuģniecība fleet comprises 38 vessels, including 30 product tankers, 5 reefer vessels, 2 LPG carriers and 1 Ro-Ro/general type vessel, as well as three tankers (Blue Star, Green Star and Maria M) time chartered in from other ship-owners.
