Critical International Agreements Announced as a Congressional Delegation Meets With World Leaders in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Feb. 11, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- After two days of intensive discussion and interaction, an eight-man congressional delegation from the House Armed Services Committee of the United States Congress opens the Ministerial segment of the International Ocean Security Initiative conference, Sunday, February 11th at 2:30 pm.

"The significance of this conference and, specifically, the Ministerial segments are far-reaching. This conference has moved the process forward as deliverables become evident through the collaborative action of the civilian, defense and private sector communities," said OSI President and CEO, Dr. Viktor Sebek. "A declaration of this significance has tremendous implications globally."

As co-chair and host, Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz stated, "We all must work together and in coordination with each other, for the dreams and the future of all our children. We must leave them a better earth and healthier oceans."

Preparation for hurricanes through global early warning systems, increased maritime and port security, environmental protection and economic security are some of the primary issues explored this weekend by leaders of over 30 nations.

"Bringing together experts and global leaders provides a tremendous collective intelligence that results in novel solutions that individual organization or group of citizens could solely conceive," said Dr. Sebek. "It is significant that this forum transpires into a joint declaration and commitment to action in these sensitive and complex issues."
