Vacon strengthens distribution in Russia

The Finland-based AC drives manufacturer Vacon has signed a distributor agreement
with Ruselprom, one of the biggest motor manufacturing companies in Russia. Vacon
will supply drives to Ruselprom in the power range from 200 kW up to 2 MW. With
its extremely rapid market growth and rising energy price, Russia is a very
interesting and important area for Vacon.

"This agreement with one of Russia's major motor manufacturers will considerably
enhance our supply of Vacon AC drives to the Russian market, where demand for
energy-saving solutions is continuously growing in various industries," says Mr
Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon.

"Our agreement with Ruselprom follows closely Vacon's strategy of multi-channel
distribution, which aims for the widest possible geographical sales coverage.
Vacon wants to be close to its customers by strengthening its global presence,"
Mr Hiltunen says.

"Energy-saving programs remain one of the core marketing strategies of Ruselprom
on the Russian market and they include cooperation with leading western
manufacturers," says Mr Ivan Gorodnitsky, Executive Director, Ruselprom.

Market growth in Russia is even faster than in China. The high energy price
encourages investments in AC drives, which bring considerable energy savings.
Ruselprom supplies motors to a wide scope of industries ranging from oil and gas
to chemical and petrochemical industry, machine building, metallurgy and
construction. In accordance with the agreement, Ruselprom will sell and market
Vacon AC drives through its own channels.

Vacon has been represented in the Russian market since the year 2001 when a
subsidiary was founded in Moscow.

Ruselprom is a supplier of complete electrical drive systems for all industries,
and it is one of the major suppliers in its field in Russia. In addition to
research, development and production, the company has gained unique experience in
installation and commissioning, repair and maintenance of all types of electric
motors, large electric machines and generators. The group consists of the
following companies: Leningrad Electric Machine Engineering Factory, Vladimir
Electromotor plant, Safonovo electric machines plant, Ruselprom-Electromash and
Niptiem (scientific, research, design and technology institute for electrical
machine building).
