RAUTARUUKKI TO ACQUIRE NORWEGIAN STEEL BRIDGE SUPPLIER SCANBRIDGE

Rautaruukki Corporation is to strengthen its position as a supplier of steel
structures for bridges in the Nordic countries through acquisition of the entire
share capital of the Norwegian company Scanbridge AS from its private owners. The
debt-free purchase price is around EUR 6.4 million. The transaction is expected
to be closed during the spring 2007, if approved by the competition authorities.

Scanbridge is the leading supplier of load-bearing steel bridge structures in
Scandinavia and specialises in total deliveries for large steel bridges. The
acquisition will complement Ruukki's expertise, particularly in the manufacture
and installation of bridge structures. Scanbridge also manufactures components
for the offshore industry, which will bolster Ruukki's own offshore business.
Scanbridge had net sales of around EUR 9 million in 2006. The company employs 75
people.

"The acquisition of Scanbridge increases the share of the solutions business of
our overall operations. In construction, the acquisition will strengthen Ruukki's
expertise as a supplier of total bridge deliveries from materials and design all
the way to installation," explains Saku Sipola, President, Ruukki Construction.

us to provide more competitive solutions to our Nordic customers. The acquisition
will also give us a competitive edge in bridge construction in other markets,
