Having commenced the commissioning and start-up activities on February 14, 2007, AB Mazeikiu Nafta started the refurbished vacuum distillation tower of Bitumen and Sulfur Production Complex and completed the first stage of its recovery plan. The refurbished vacuum distillation tower is capable of refining approx. 50 per cent of the crude unit volumes refined in the unit damaged by fire in October 2006.
