Providing EAN information to ACNielsen (Scantrack)

Kesko has today afternoon been informed that after Kesko Food expressed its
concern about the centralisation of grocery trade to the Finnish Competition
Authority last Friday, 16 February 2007, and reported about the Scantrack
service of A.C. Nielsen Finland Oy in the changed market situation, the Finnish
Competition Authority has today started an investigation concerning the
Scantrack service. Scantrack is a grocery tracking system based on EAN
information obtained at store checkout systems.

Kesko Food served notice of termination of the agreement concerning the
Scantrack service at the end of 2006. Kesko Food decided to withdraw from the
agreement in accordance with termination clauses due to the recent major
structural arrangements in the grocery sector, which have resulted in some
significant operators leaving the market.

The Scantrack service by ACNielsen has been long used in several countries,
including Finland. All Finnish key operators in the grocery sector and the
manufacturing industry have used the system.

Kesko Food is of the opinion that in this matter it has in all respects acted
according to the regulations.
