QLogic SANbox 9000 Core Switches and SANbox 6140 Intelligent Storage Routers Qualified With IBM System Storage Products

SANbox 9000 Series and SANbox 6140 Confirmed as IBM System Storage Proven

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Feb. 20, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), the leader in Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs), stackable switches and blade server switches, today announced that SANbox(r) 9000 Series core switches and SANbox 6140 intelligent storage routers have been pre-qualified for interoperability with IBM System Storage products. IBM business partners and customers can now deploy SANbox products with the knowledge the solution has been confirmed by IBM to have successfully completed interoperability testing with specified IBM System Storage products. QLogic SANbox 9000 core switches and SANbox 6140 intelligent storage routers have been confirmed as IBM System Storage Proven(tm) with IBM System x and System p servers, as well as IBM System Storage DS4700, DS6800 and DS8100 products.

"IBM customers are asking for products that are fully tested for interoperability in a customer environment," said Jesse Parker, vice president and general manager, QLogic Switch Products Group. "SANbox core switches and intelligent storage routers have been confirmed by IBM to be successfully installed and running with IBM System Storage products in a customer environment, and successfully completed interoperability testing with specified IBM System Storage products."

SANbox 9000 Series Switches -- Designed to the Core(tm) for Open Systems

Finally, there's a new class of core switch that represents a sane alternative to quarter million dollar director switches. The SANbox 9000 Series is Designed to the Core for cost-sensitive, business-critical, open system environments that require ultra high density, blazing performance and intelligent switching for their data center core. The SANbox 9000 architecture represents a number of industry firsts: a 4U modular chassis for a smaller footprint and cost-effective scalability, customer replaceable units (CRUs) to eliminate costly service calls, a 10Gb core-to-edge "backbone" enabling seamless inter-switch SAN performance scaling and a comprehensive set of core switch software management tools included as standard.

QLogic SANbox 6000 Series Intelligent Storage Routers- Low Cost SAN Connectivity

The QLogic SANbox 6000 Series is a family of intelligent storage routers that provides low cost, SAN connectivity services for the entire enterprise. The SANbox 6140 provides a solution that creates cost-effective SAN connectivity by routing standard Ethernet, via iSCSI, to Fibre Channel SANs. The QLogic SANbox 6140 provides three core capabilities that leverage the benefits and investments that businesses have made in SANs. First, the 6140 allows all servers in the enterprise to connect to the SAN via low-cost and standard Ethernet. Second, all Fibre Channel SAN devices become multi-protocol devices, via iSCSI. Third, it provides simple migration of stand-alone direct attached storage (DAS) to SAN based storage. With performance to support 512 servers, and wizard-based configuration, the SANbox 6000 sets the standard for storage router price/performance and ease-of-use. Based on the same proven QLogic ASIC technology that powers over 50 million storage products sold by leading storage vendors, SANbox 6000 Series intelligent storage routers offer unparalleled levels of performance and scalability.

The IBM System Storage Proven program supports the ability of independent hardware and software vendors to build high-quality solutions with the latest technology on leading storage platforms as well as reduce solution design time when multiple, tested building blocks have already been pre-tested.
