Autoliv Receives Three Awards from Toyota

(Stockholm, February 26, 2006) - At Toyota's 2007 Annual Global Supplier Convention in Nagoya, Japan, Autoliv - the global leader in automotive safety systems - was honoured with three awards for its contributions during 2006 to Toyota Motor Corporation. The awards were given to Autoliv by Katsuaki Watanabe, President of  Toyota Motor Corporation.

Autoliv received an Award for Quality Performance.

Then, a second Award was given for Technology & Development. This was in recognition of “the world's first frontal airbag for rear seat occupants”. This Seat Cushion Airbag (SCA) has been developed in cooperation with Lexus/Toyota and is currently being introduced on the world market in the Lexus LS460.
Finally, Autoliv received the prestigious Global Contribution Award in recognition of supporting  actively wordwide the Toyota global production development.

“We are honoured and delighted to have been recognized by these three awards this year by Toyota, one of the most quality-minded vehicle manufacturers in the world”, said Autoliv's Chief Operating Officer Benoît Marsaud who led Autoliv's group at the Award Winning Ceremony. He added: 

“Toyota has been instrumental in Autoliv's quality work. Our production system - the Autoliv Production System (APS) - is based on the Toyota Production System (TPS), and our Design and Process Engineering as well as Production specialists have worked very closely with Toyota since the early 1990s”.

Several Autoliv production facilities in Japan, Asia Pacific, North America and Europe are involved in the company's deliveries to Toyota globally. In addition, Autoliv's tech centers in Japan, North America and Europe support Toyota with its design engineering expertise in automotive safety and with crash testing facilities. One of the fastest growing products is the curtain airbag for side-impact and rollover protection - a product that Toyota has decided to offer as standard from 2006 in all of its vehicles in North America.
