Ethernet Alliance Re-Elects Val Oliva as a Member of the Board of Directors and an Officer


SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced that the Ethernet Alliance elected Val Oliva, director of product management for Foundry Networks' Enterprise Business Unit, as a member of the board directors and an officer, serving as Secretary, for the Ethernet Alliance organization.

The Ethernet Alliance is a consortium of system and component vendors, industry experts, and university and government professionals who are committed to the continued success and expansion of Ethernet technology. The consortium's mission is to promote industry awareness, acceptance, and advancement of technology and products based on both existing and emerging IEEE 802 Ethernet standards and their management. As a founding member of the Alliance, Foundry Networks plays a key role in promoting the acceptance and reducing the time-to-market of Ethernet-based solutions by supporting the advancement of existing and emerging Ethernet technologies.

In addition to governance responsibilities in the Ethernet Alliance, Oliva chairs the POE/POE Plus Committee and the Ethernet Alliance University Program (EAUP). The POE/POE Plus Committee focuses on educating enterprise customers about Power Over Ethernet or the 802.3af standard and the upcoming POE Plus standard called 802.3at. As chair of the EAUP, Oliva is leading the effort in building the bridge between the Ethernet Alliance and research/academia through active participation and collaboration.
