““Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd handles almost 2 million tons of cargo in first two months of 2007


In January and February of 2007, “”Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd, a
subsidiary of JSC “Ventspils Nafta” and crude oil and petroleum product
transshipment company,  handled 1.9 million tons of crude oil and petroleum
products in total, which were delivered to the terminal by oil product
pipelines, railway and sea. In the same period of 2006, “”Ventspils Nafta”
Terminals” Ltd handled 1.2 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products. 
The main reason for increase in transshipment amounts is activities of Vitol,
the new owner of 34.75% of JSC “Ventspils Nafta” shares and corporation
involved in global oil business, in order to further the development of
companies of “Ventspils Nafta” Group operating in transit sphere. 

During the first two months of this year, were handled 1.4 million tons of
diesel petrol, 0.3 million tons of different sorts of car petrol and 0.2
million tons of crude oil. Dennis Crema, the senior commercial representative
of Vitol commenting  upon participation of Vitol in the business of “”Ventspils
Nafta” Terminals” Ltd expressed satisfaction “that our involvement leads to a
significant improvement in the volumes of products in the terminal”. By the
help of Vitol, the terminal received considerable volumes of petroleum products
already in the autumn of 2006. The cooperation continued successfully also
during the first two months of 2007. In March the company Vitol became a full
strategic partner of “”Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd having a 49% stake in
its share capital. 

In January 2007, “”Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd handled 0.9 million tons,
but in February - almost 1 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products. 

“”Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd is a subsidiary of JSC “Ventspils Nafta”
rendering transit services - receiving of oil and diesel petrol delivered by
pipelines, as well as receiving, storage and transshipment of diesel petrol,
car petrol and other petroleum product cargos delivered by railway or sea. 

“”Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd is the largest of such companies in the
region. Its crude oil and petroleum product shore-tank farm reaches 1.2 million
cubic meters, and it has no analogues among similar companies in the nearest
countries.
