Finnair Asian traffic recorded continued brisk growth in February with traffic up 36,8 per cent. Total scheduled traffic increased by 18.8 per cent compared to last year. Passenger load factor was 70.2 per cent, up 3.0 percentage points. Number of passengers carried was 586 851, up 2.1 per cent. Total Finnair Group traffic, measured in passenger kilometers, increased by 11.1 per cent in February, while the capacity was up by 9.0 per cent, resulting in a passenger load factor of 76.1 per cent, or 1.4 points higher than last year. Finnair Group airlines altogether transported 678 692 passengers, which is 1.3 per cent more than a year ago. Finnair's Tallinn-based subsidiary Aero AS, carried 32 201 passengers (- 48.9%) on routes between Helsinki and the Baltic capitals and within Southern Finland. During February, Stockholm-based FlyNordic carried 76 814 passengers (- 15.0%). Aero and FlyNordic figures are respectively included in Finnair Group total figures. Arrival punctuality of scheduled flights was 76.5 per cent (based on a fifteen minute standard), -6.6 points lower than in January 2006. Including leisure flights arrival punctuality was 74.3 per cent (-6.4 p.p). Scheduled traffic In scheduled traffic (international + domestic) revenue passenger kilometres increased by 18.8%. The change in capacity was 13.7%. Passenger load factor was 70.2%, 3.0 percentage points higher than last year. In scheduled international traffic, total number of passengers was up by 7.9%. Capacity in ASKs was 17.9%higher, while RPKs increased by 21.9%. In European scheduled traffic, ASKs increased by 5.3%, and as RPKs increased by 9.7%, the passenger load factor was 63.1%, up 2.5 points from previous year. In North Atlantic scheduled traffic, capacity decreased by 13.1%. Change in RPKs was - 9.3%, and passenger load factor for February was 73.9%, 3.1 points lower than previous year. In Asian scheduled traffic, capacity increase was 36.8%. The passenger traffic was up by 36.8%. Passenger load factor was 78.2%, the same as last year. Domestic scheduled traffic decreased by 6.9% on a capacity decrease of 14.4%. Passenger load factor increased by 4.9 percentage points to 60.4%. Leisure traffic ASKs for leisure traffic decreased in February by 3.4%, and RPKs decreased by 3.4%, resulting in a passenger load factor of 94.0%, the same than last year. Cargo Cargo traffic increased by 4.5% in terms of cargo tonnes carried. Growth in scheduled traffic was 8.6%. Increase in Asian traffic was 25.3%. Volume in European traffic decreased by 7.9%. In North- Atlantic traffic cargo volume decreased by 21.6%. Cargo traffic carried on chartered cargo flights decreased by 27.3%. The cargo load factor was 42.5%. The cargo load factor in the Far Eastern traffic was 51.9% and in the North Atlantic traffic 74.5%.
