The Second International Arab Aviation Security Conference Kicks Off in Jeddah on the 26th of March

Hosted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation Under the Slogan 'Working Together Against Civil Aviation Threats'


JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, March 12, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Second International Arab Aviation Security Conference under the slogan "Working Together Against Civil Aviation Threats," is hosted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, patronized by HRH Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with The International Air Transport Association (IATA). The conference will take place on the 26th to the 28th of March 2007 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In respect of the natural need for security and safety, especially with the new trends occurring in the local and international domains, the conference will seek to enhance the level of awareness and enforcement of aviation security. The need to constantly implement security updates will also be stressed with the objective of raising the efficiency of the aviation security systems. The ultimate aim is to guarantee that both airports and aircraft are safe and secure so that air travel will be safer and more enjoyable.

In regards to security issues, His Excellency Eng. Abdullah Rihimi, president of the General Authority for Civil Aviation said, "Positioning Saudi Arabia as the main player in the region, we are committed to take every necessary action that will guarantee security of airports without affecting flight schedules."

He added: "The aviation industry must observe strict procedures on how to recruit modern technology for protecting airports and airplanes in order to avoid any security violations, both on the ground and in the air, so that passengers are reassured that they are safe while they are in the airport and during their flight."

He went on to say, "One of the main objectives of this conference is reinforcing cooperation and synchronizing security efforts for aviation and airports regionally and internationally in addition to enhancing strategic partnerships between aviation organizations."

The Conference will be attended by heads of Civil Aviation authorities from the Arab World and some friend states in addition to other regional and international organizations such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC), African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), The International Air Transport Association (IATA), The International Federation of Airlines pilots (IFALPA). Top speakers will be participating in the conference such as Mr.Iain Jack, Senior Security Advisor at the International Air Transport Association; Professor Dr. Paul Stephen Dempsey, Professor of Law, Director Institute of Air & Space Law at McGill University; Yousif A. Wali, Aviation Security Consultant; Taleb Abed Ahmad Alzoubi, Aviation & Airports Security Expert at Abu Dhabi International Airport Police Security; Abu Dhabi Police Ghg, Jihad Irshaid, President of Al Nouran Aviation Consultants; Captain Georg Funger, Executive Vice President of IFALPA; Mr. Billie H.
