Infortrend Debuts High Performance 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel RAID Array

EonStor 4G-FC Family Offers Ultimate Fault Tolerance, Flexibility, Scalability for Enterprise

HANNOVER, Germany, March 15, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- RAID storage expert Infortrend(r) today announced their new 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel (4G-FC) RAID subsystem family: the EonStor(r) F16F-R4031, F16F-S4031, F16F-J4000R and F16F-J4000S. Combining 4G-FC with Infortrend's latest RAID technology, the new F16F doubles the available bandwidth of the previous generation, benefiting many applications which require high performance, e.g., audio/video streaming, cinema playback, enterprise primary data storage, online storage, and database applications. With twelve configurable 4G-FC host ports, customers can choose to have more direct host connections or more drive expansion ports. Available in redundant controller (F16F-R4031) or single controller (F16F-S4031) models, the EonStor F16F family is fully equipped with the latest fault-tolerant RAID functionalities, including RAID6 which ensures data availability in the event of two hard drive failures.

Also introduced are the new EonStor Fibre Channel SBODs (JBODs with switching technology) that come as redundant controller (F16F-J4000-R) and single controller (F16F-J4000-S) models. The combination of an ES F16F RAID subsystem and SBOD makes it possible to have up to 224 disks in one configuration. Customers can easily achieve high transaction performance for their database and web applications or build high capacity and sustained performance for their audio/video applications.

The increased bandwidth provided by Infortrend's fifth generation architecture together with the latest 4G-FC interface provide the new F16F family with the performance, reliability, and scalability that storage managers are looking for. The F16F is ideal for primary data storage, digital content delivery, and database applications that need a flexible, reliable SAN solution.

EonStor F16F Family Highlights

 * 3U, 16-bay, 4G-FC-to-4G-FC RAID subsystems available in either
   single or redundant controller models (F16F-S4031 and F16F-R4031,
   respectively)
 * 3U, 16-bay, 4G-FC SBOD subsystems available in single or redundant
   controller models (F16F-J4000S and F16F-J4000R, respectively)
 * Channels can be configured as either host or drive channels, giving
   high flexibility to create more host connections or additional drive
   connections as required
 * Expandable up to 224 hard drives by adding EonStor F16F SBODs
 * New generation RAID controller architecture features high-speed
   cross-controller communications which enables redundant controllers
   to supply high performance.
 * EonPath(tm) multipathing software for increased reliability
 * Add SANWatch(tm) for snapshot backup data services
