HANNOVER, Germany, March 15, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- CeBIT -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced the availability of a SAN-based storage management and data protection solution based on the Emulex Model 765-S Intelligent Services Platform and the LSI StoreAge Storage Virtualization Manager (SVM) application. The solution provides hardware acceleration for applications such as storage pooling, low-capacity snapshots, cloning, mirroring, and online data migration. This offering cost-effectively addresses end-user business requirements such as efficient storage capacity planning, rapid application recovery, affordable remote mirroring, enhanced backup and cost-effective tiered storage.
The solution hosts elements of the LSI software in the Model 765-S platform located centrally in the SAN fabric. When installed in an LSI StoreAge SVM configuration, the Model 765-S extends SAN-based storage services for virtual server environments, such as VMware, and active-active clustered volume environments, such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and PolyServe data clustering. The solution connects to the SAN as an end-point (N_port) and interoperates with any vendor's fabric. Further, it supports heterogeneous server and storage environments, thus fully leveraging customers' existing infrastructure investments.
The Emulex Model 765-S platform, a 1U system with four Fibre Channel ports, is built using the award-winning Emulex AV150 Intelligent Storage Processor and provides hardware acceleration for LSI SVM data services.
