QLogic SANblade Fibre Channel and iSCSI HBAs Certified on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

QLogic and Red Hat Drive Virtualization, Simplify Fibre Channel and iSCSI Deployments for Enterprise Data Centers

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., March 15, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), the leader in Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs), iSCSI HBAs, stackable switches and blade server switches today announced certification on the newly announced Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, which offers Global 2000 corporations several new features including enhanced virtualization technologies. All QLogic(r) SANblade(r) Fibre Channel and iSCSI HBAs will be fully compatible with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 OS and Xen Hypervisor 3.0, an open source virtualization software solution that is offered with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

QLogic virtualization qualification support provides Red Hat customers with a means of deploying and managing reliable storage area networks (SANs) in virtual server environments. Integrated virtualization environments enable users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 to dramatically increase server utilization, improve productivity and scalability, and reduce operating costs by consolidating their workloads onto fewer servers.

"Through our continued collaboration with Red Hat, QLogic delivers storage networking solutions that enable mission-critical applications in enterprise data centers to transition to virtualized environments," said Amit Vashi, senior director of marketing, QLogic Computer Systems Group. "The ability of our SANblade HBAs to scale across a larger number of virtual machines empowers IT managers in Global 2000 corporations to realize lower data center costs through server consolidation."
